This stage of finish
sanding sees the final
smoothing of the wood
with fine abrasive sheet,
revealing the beauty of the
grain and figuring -
there are only a handful
of photographs, although it
takes
a considerable time
to achieve the desired
quality of finish

This heel to neck
transition - the fine flaming
and
the grain flecking
in the maple show up well

The flaming here is just
like silk - luscious

This photograph doesn't
really do justice to the
neck to
headstock
transition - you really need
to hold the neck and turn
it round to appreciate
fully
how one flows into
the other

The ebony headstock veneer
reveals very subtle
figuring
and colour variations
when finely sanded
