Assembly

The pickup components
and freshly routed
scratchplate all waiting to
be assembled

The basic wiring loom
for pots, switches, tone
capacitor and jack socket
is soldered up away from
the guitar

The basic wiring loom is
then installed in the guitar ...

... and the pot and switch
nuts tightened gently

The neck is fitted and
screwed firmly into place
through the neckplate

Then the bridge pickup
and the scratchplate loaded
with the neck pickup and
coil-tap switch are
installed and carefully
screwed down

The pickup, the coil-tap
switch and bridge earth
lead solder connections
are all neatly made off

The freshly routed control
cavity cover is screwed
in position

The machine head bushings
are carefully pressed
into place - the machine
head holes were drilled
to be just right for a
perfect friction fit

The machinehead screw
holes are carefully marked
and drilled ...

... and the machineheads
screwed firmly into position

The remaining pictures are
a bit out of focus, and
will be replaced when we
can take some more -
the basic nut profile is
filed to 12" radius to
match the fingerboard

All nut shaping is done
off the guitar, but
the nut is offered up
to the neck frequently
to check it - the main
nut bevel is filed off first

Once the main bevel is
good, the edges are
bevelled too ...

... and the whole nut shape
blended in to make a
neat smooth form -
we'll take pictures of
the slot cutting and final
nut shaping and polishing
on our next batch
of guitars
